Police investigate burglary and suspected homicide

Police in Dominica has been called on the scene in Canefield after the body of a male individual was discovered in an unconscious state.

According to police sources, the body was found in a drain near the Canefield bus stop close to the Catholic Church.

Sources say that the man was in a wheelchair and appeared “disabled” since he has no legs. The body was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) where it was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor.

According to a release from the police, at about 0130hrs on Thursday 17th September 2020, they received information about an attempted Burglary in Canefield.

“One man is presently in police custody for the offense.  The officers also note that they recovered the stolen items, including a bus. Moments after an unidentified male individual reported that he noticed an unresponsive man in the drain adjacent to the Canefield East bus stop,” Police said.

Meantime, the police have revealed that the body of the deceased was identified as Ellingworth Frank male adult of Eggleston.   “Frank was found with several lacerations to the forehead. Investigations are ongoing,” the police stated.
