After securing an eight wickets victory in the previous encounter against Marinor Blasters last weekend at the Botanic Gardens in Roseau, defending champions Tremors secured yet another convincing victory.
In their two-day encounter over the weekend in the Dominica Cricket Association Augustus Gregoire Premier Division Cricket League, Tremors defeated St. Paul’s Academy by an innings and 89 runs at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
National player Tyron Theophille hit 84 as Tremors declared on 259 for nine after taking the first knock. Theophille got good support from former national player and captain Martin Mathew who hit 65. Jerlani Robinson and Vivian Titre contributed 37 and 20 not out respectively.
Bowling for St. Paul’s Academy, Khamal Hamilton claimed four for 63. Nehaul Paul bagged two for 47 and Micah Joseph finished with two for 61.
In reply, St. Paul’s Academy was bowled out for 105. Micah Joseph hit a top score of 24. Malakai Xavier was the pick of the bowlers taking five for 35, Vivian Titre took three for 31 and Martin Matthew took two for nine.
With a deficit of 154 on first innings and asked to follow on, the St. Paul’s Academy was rattled out for 65. Sherwin Labassiere with 12 runs was the top scorer.
Bowling for Tremors, Vivian Titre took three for five and Martin Matthew took two for 18.
The win pushed Tremors to first place in the points standing and a spot in the semifinal. Nagico Stars finished in second place with Nanthan Insurance Grand Bay Colts in the third position. Marinor Blasters secured the fourth and final semifinal spot.
The two semifinal encounters are expected to be played next weekend with Tremors taking on Marinor Blasters and Nanthan Insurance Grand Bay Colts taking on Nagico Stars.
