Two students from Baroness Patricia Scotland Primary School among NCCU art competition winners

Two students from the Baroness Patricia Scotland Primary School in Vieille Case are among the three winners of the National Credit Union (NCCU) primary school’s art competition.

That competition was organized to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the NCCU.

Sydney Etienne won the first place, Nilton Valmond of the Trafalgar Primary school second place and third place went to Kerensa Joseph of the Baroness Patricia Scotland Primary School

Shari Pascal- Maronie is theMarketing Manager at the NCCU.

She explained that they did not limit the students in their painting. “It was NCCU’s 10th anniversary and the theme was centered on young savers because we want to instill that discipline in them early to save for the future,” she said.

“We were delighted that we received submissions before the deadline, but we got calls and messages to consider changing the age since it was first only for ten-year-olds because it was our 10th anniversary. We changed it from 7-10 years old,” Pascal-Maronie stated.

She said that they received lots of paintings and had to get someone who is an artist to do the judging to make sure that it was what they wanted.

“Art is something that is very important and we are happy that the teachers and parents played a major part in it and we want to urge you the students to continue doing your artwork,” she stated.

Chief Executive Officer of the NCCU Alymer Irish said that the credit union believes in “community and youth development” and this competition will continue. “We are open to ideas, feel free to advise us through our marketing manager, encourage others to participate the next time around,” Irish said.

The work of the competitors was judged by artist Shadrack Burton.
