No double for league champs

Newly crowned back to back Premier Division Champions Sagicor South East FC will have to wait another year in an attempt to secure two championships in a season.

On Sunday at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, the league champions failed to advance to the semifinal stage of the 2020 Dominica Football Association Recovery Cup Knock Out Competition.

In their quarterfinal encounter, South East FC went down by two goals to nil at the hands of the Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC.

Savio Anselm and Shikel St. Marie with one goal each were the players on target for the winners.

In the other quarterfinal encounter on Sunday, Promex Harlem United made light work of LA Enterprises Bombers FC at the Almond Park in Dublanc. Harlem United booked their spot in the last four with two goals in each half, for a convincing four goals to nil whipping.

Audel Laville opened the scoring for his club when he converted from the penalty spot after having been brought down. Kassim Peltier made it two-nil when he converted a well-taken freekick from just outside the 18.

In the second half of play, Harlem United solidified their control with one goal each coming from Zion Emmanuel and Brandell Richards.

Harlem United will now take on Dublanc FC in one semifinal encounter while WE United FC and Happi Bath Estate FC will go head to head in the other matchup.

In the Division One competition on Sunday at the Newtown Playing Field, Police Sports Club made light work of Do It Center Mighty Avengers FC with four goals to one success. For the lawmen, one goal each came from Nelson Maxime, Andy St. Rose, Darren Delsol, and Fabian LeBlanc. Jaiphet Bellot scored the only goal for his club.
