The general membership of the Dominica Amateur Basketball Association (DABA) has booted out its president, Dunstan “Maggie Peters”.
At a special meeting of the DABA held on Thursday evening via the Zoom platform, a motion of no confidence was tabled against Peters. Of the 18 teams that participated at the meeting, 15 teams voted in support of the motion, while the remaining four teams abstained.
Peters, who was elected as the DABA president in 2019, presided over a collapsed executive after several high-profile members resigned their positions. Among those to resign most recently were Jerry Williams and Peter Ricketts who served as secretary and 1st vice president respectively.
The resignations of the Williams and Ricketts were prompted by the president’s actions which they claim are counter-productive and hurt the image of the DABA.
In recent weeks, Peters embarked on several protests actions in front of business places within the capital city, Roseau, thereby hurting the image of the DABA according to individuals with intimate knowledge of the matter.
