Pointe Michel humble defending champs South East

Petro Caribe Pointe Michel ended the first round of the Dominica Football Association Premiere Division League on a winning note. After struggling for the first half of the first round, Pointe Michel secured a remarkable victory over the back-to-back defending champions. 

On Saturday at Almond Park in Dublanc, Pointe Michel FC defeated Sagicor South East FC by two goals to one to register that all-important win. Daneal Dupigny and Perry Charles scored one goal each for the winners. Javed George scored the lone goal for the defending champions. Perry Charles was named as the player of the game.

In another encounter on Saturday, Blue Waters Bath Estate FC and LA Enterprises Bombers FC played to a one-all draw at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth. Eustace Marshall scored for Bath Estate FC while Jamie Parillon scored for Bombers FC.

On Sunday, Connect 767 East Central FC got the better of Valvoline WE United FC by three goals to two at Benjamin Park. Shamia Dangleben found the back of the net twice and Nathan Newtown scored the other goal. For the losers, Michael Gasper and Roosevelt Coipel scored one goal each. Shamia Dangleben was named the player of the game. The other scheduled match-up between Dublanc FC and Promex Harlem ended prematurely in the 56th minute of play after an injury to the Dublanc FC custodian. At the time the match was blown off, the home team enjoyed two goals to one advantage.

Meanwhile, New India Goodwill Runners FC was crowned as the champions of the women’s festival. In the finals on Sunday at Dublanc, Goodwill runners defeated Mahaut Soca Striketes by four goals to nil. Kasica Samuel netted twice and there was one goal each for Roselia Registe and Romelcia Phillip.
