St. Andrews win parish T10 competition

St. Andrews are the champions of the T10 Parish cricket league played at the Botanical Gardens over the weekend beating St. Patrick’s by 7 runs.

Batting first St. Andrews totaled 101 for 7 in ten overs with Vincent Lewis top-scoring with 49 runs. Bowling for St. Patrick’s Courtney Anslem grabbed 3 for 1 including a hattrick.

In reply, St. Patrick’s reached 95 for 5 in 10 overs. St. Andrews captain Sherlon George said afterwards, that he was happy to have been given first use of the wicket. “It was keeping low, but we got the best use of it, although we did not put a big score on the board but we backed our bowlers,” he said.

The game was a close one and went right down to the wire with 12 needed from the final over. He also has high praises for the organizers of the competition and is hoping that it will be an annual affair.

Jasyon Alexander is the captain of the St. Patrick’s team and said that his team did well. “It was a good final, everybody contributed,” he said. For the third place, St. Paul had the better of St. George by 7 wickets. St. George made 114 for 2 with St. Paul replying with 119 for 3 from 9.4 over Jerlani Robinson 48 and Casimir Benjamin 41. Sherwin Labassaire 5 for 21.
