The Dominica Nurses Association calls for an Apology from the Attorney General

Press Release

The Dominica Nurses Association wishes to place on record its objection to our
colleague, Mrs. Annette Sandford being referred to as a “drumstick” in Dominica’s
Parliament on September 27, 2023.
This gross lack of respect for one nurse can be regarded as disrespect to nurses,
Kalinago women and all women by extension.

It is shameful to stand among so many other female colleagues and speak ill of another female, let alone in the presence of the new President-elect who is also a Kalinago woman. Women are a force to move mountains and this is further manifested by our having created
history by electing a female President. Furthermore, when the nursing profession in Dominica is under immense pressure due to high nurse-patient ratios and other factors in the workplace, this statement can only undermine the morale of our hard-working nurses.
In this regard, we are calling on the Attorney General to apologize to Mrs. Sandford.

This is a sad time in our history and we hope no one ever repeats it.

The Dominica Nurses Association takes this opportunity to congratulate Nurse Annette Sandford for having been identified as a Presidential nominee. You have made

us proud and we wish you well in your future endeavors.
