Prime Minister Skerrit said Nigerian artist Burna Boy breached his contract

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has cleared the air on the failure of afrobeat superstar Burna Boy’s no appearance on the second night of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).

The Nigerian artist failed to arrive in Dominica as per his contract to perform to the disappointment of the thousands who braved the inclement weather that evening.

“What happened on Saturday 29, 2022 had nothing to do with the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) or anyone in Dominica,” Skerrit told media officials at the stadium.

Our airport was open, there was no bad weather, and all our staff was in place, so this has absolutely nothing to do with the World Creole Music Festivals organizers and the government and people of Dominica. There is a contract, and it should have been respected. I would have kept the airport open to having the aircraft land, we were prepared to charter LIAT and had the PM of Antigua and Barbados keep their airports open to facilitate the gentleman.”

Skerrit said that Dominica performed every aspect of its contract with Burna Boy and more. “He should have honoured his contract, it is an unfortunate circumstance,” he stated.

He arrived in Dominica one day later Sunday, October 30, 2022, and performed in the early hours of Monday morning October 31, 2022, the final night of the Creole Festival.

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer who goes by the nickname Burna Boy. He rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing “Like to party” the lead single from his debut album LIFE.

  1. Why is it the one-man rogue regime who has to address such issue and not the festival committee? Is he the one deciding what time airport function or close? No wonder everything dies with him running things!!

    • Yes because the festival doesn’t have the authority nationally or internationally to override some of the necessary actions that the prime minister just indicated that he would’ve have used his powers to get done just so that naggers like you could’ve been satisfied the same night the man was expected to perform in Dominica. Ok. SO he do know the likes of you all already always politicizing every thing that happens in the country so he was right to clear the air for the likes of you sake

  2. Contract or no contract, let us give respect to judgment where is is due. The PILOT in COMMAND is the final authority on when it is SAFE to operate any aircraft into or out of any airport, in any country. Let us remove Partisan Politics from the things we know little of. I myself am a pilot and have landed or not landed in many different airports in the Caribbean based on my judgment, AT THE MOMENT, based on factors that may or may not have included weather, field conditions, that is, accelerate stop distances
As affected by by current winds…and or many other circumstances. So let us stop judging without INFORMED facts. Seewoh can’t always be first and foremost.

  3. Does anyone know how much it costs to keep an international Airport open? So the PM expects people with a little bit of brain to believe that he called the PM’s of Barbados and Antigua to leave their Airports open indefinitely to wait for Burnerboy. If the artist is in Suriname which is south of d/ca why Antigua and not St lucia, St vincent or Martinique

    • The retard thinks other Dominicans retarded like him. Asked to keep the airport open? But the airport open all night all day

  4. So will there be ACCOUNTABILITY ? The Burning boy just came when he wanted and did want he wanted, how he wanted it and got the big LAAASHAAR………Jussssss like dat ?? This is crazy
