Suspected suicide in Layou

The police in Dominica are investigating what they claim is a case of “suspected suicide in Layou of 38-year-old Gregory Isaac of Layou Park.

According to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Leana Edwards in charge of the Southern Division, “on Monday, May 9, 2022, informing reaching the St. Joseph Police indicated that a neighbour saw the deceased Gregory Isaac hanging by the neck from a piece of rope which was tied to the roof of his house.”

“The St. Joseph Police and the Crime scene officers responded to the report and found no visible marks of violence on the body. The necessary crime scene investigations were conducted, and the body was subsequently transported to the St. Joseph Health Center where it was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor,” she said.

ASP Edwards also revealed that the body of the deceased was transported to the Gentle Rest Funeral Home for safekeeping pending a “postmortem examination”. “Foul play is not suspected,” she stated.
