Tasha P has been crowned Stardom 2023 Calypso Monarch of Dominica with her controversial piece “Calypso High.” That was her fourth Stardom Monarch title.
Coming in second place was Daddy Chess followed by Mighty D and Observer. The show was held at the Petite Miami formerly Anchorage Hotel before a capacity crowd. Even before the results were formally announced, as usual commentators always pick their top performers, and Edgar Hunter and Cecil Joseph of the DBS Radio panel were among the top however Hunter was of the view that Observer stood head and shoulders above all.
Tasha P, Mighty D, and Daddy Chess are finalists in the 2023 calypso finals, and according to commentator Cecil Joseph, given past tradition, he is not surprised at the decision of the judges. His views were not supported by Hunter who maintains that while he respects the decision of the judges and it is “final” Observer was ahead of all.
“I respect the decision of the judges and it is always final, I also congratulate Tasha P and all the others but I am of the view that dealing with content and performance, Observer is my winner,” he said.
In her interview moments after the results with DBS Radio, Tasha P expressed her delight at winning and thanked her team and fans for the confidence placed in her.
