National netball league suspended

The action in the 2021 Digicel and Big Edge Financial Express Dominica Netball Association (DNA) national netball league has been suspended.

According to officials of the DNA, the suspension of the league became necessary so as to give full support to the Goodwill Invitational Games organized by the Sports Division. The Goodwill Invitational Games is an invitational netball tournament featuring under 14 and under 16 netballers from St. Martin and Dominica. 

The Goodwill Invitational Games is designed to develop the sport of netball and to create camaraderie as well as showcasing the talent of these young players.

On Friday, in game one of a doubleheader, it will be an all Dominica affair when the Dominica U-16 A-Team takes on Dominica Under 14 Team.

In the second encounter of the evening, the Dominica Emerging Under 16 Team will take on St. Maarten. Both encounters at scheduled for Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.

On Saturday, the action moves to the hard courts of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium. In the first match from 6 pm, Dominica Under 14 will take on the Dominica Emerging Under 16 Team. At 7:30 pm, the National Under 16 A-Team will take on St. Maarten.

In the last round of competition on Sunday, in-game one from 6 pm, the 3rd and 4th placed teams will be in action while game 2, carded for 7:30 pm, will feature the two top teams who will contest each other in the finals.

Following the matches on Sunday, the prize-giving ceremony will take place where deserving teams and individuals will be recognized for their performances.
