PRESS RELEASE
Roseau, Dominica – December 2024 – In a ceremony held at the Douglas-Charles International Airport, Cuban Ambassador Miguel Fraga and officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of Dominica welcomed a group of Cuban collaborators specialized in agriculture, who will join the development programs on the island, known as the “Nature Island”.
A welcome message sent by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of Dominica, Ryan Anselm, highlighted the importance of these professionals in strengthening the country’s agricultural sector and expressed gratitude for Cuba’s continued support. “Agricultural technical cooperation will contribute to achieving the goal of increasing agriculture’s contribution to gross domestic product by 700 million between now and 2030. The (Cuban) experts will help Dominica transform the sector by introducing new technologies and innovations aimed at improving productivity, as well as creating a sustainable and resilient agricultural sector,” Anselm stressed.
Ambassador Fraga, for his part, reaffirmed Cuba’s commitment to solidarity and international cooperation, emphasizing the positive impact of these exchanges. “The mission of our collaborators is clear: to share knowledge, techniques, and good practices to increase agricultural production and contribute to the welfare of the people of Dominica,” the diplomat stressed.
It is worth noting that last May 23, during a meeting with Ambassador Fraga, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit announced that actions had been discussed to continue collaboration in the areas of health and agriculture, concretizing plans to receive in Dominica technical advisors from the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba.
