The police have arrested and charged a Venezuelan and Colombian national for illegal entry into Dominica and drug trafficking and importation.
According to the complaint filed by Inspector of Police Clinton Hilaire, Osman Rafael Hernandez Ulacia of Venezuela and Rigoberto Suarez Pinzon of Colombia on January 3, 2025, did import a certain controlled drug namely “cocaine into the Commonwealth of Dominica in a quantity to wit four hundred and fifteen thousand, five hundred grams (415,500).”
The men are also charged with committing a drug trafficking offense by having in their possession a controlled drug namely “cocaine” in a quantity of more the one gram to wit 415,500 grams with intent to supply to another.”
The third charge is that on the said day ( January 3, 2025) they entered the State of Dominica by “sea at Cottage a place not designated as a port of entry.”
They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges when they appeared at the Portsmouth Magistrate’s Court. No application was made on behalf of their lawyer Wayne Norde for bail hence they have been remanded in custody at the State’s Prison in Stock Farm pending trial. The matter has been adjourned to March 11, 2025, in Portsmouth.
Police Inspector Maurice Pierre represented the prosecution in the matter.
