Police have arrested and charged Quincy Austin Bruce of Soufriere for deception.
According to the complaint filed by the police, Bruce is said to have dishonestly from a cashier at Auto Trade, one red KIA Sonet Sport Utility Vehicle valued at EC$97,000.00 with the intent to permanently deprive Auto Trade that vehicle when he falsely represented to the cashier that a HALIFAX VISA debit card he used for the payment of the said vehicle was valid and good.
The incident is said to have taken place on January 21, 2025. He appeared before senior Magistrate Michael Laudat where the charge was read to him. He was not required to enter a plea since the matter is indictable and must be tried before a Judge and jury.
The prosecution objected to bail because Bruce was also wanted for several similar offenses.
Based on the utterances by the prosecution, his lawyer Wayne Norde decided to defer his bail application. The matter has been adjourned to April 28, 2025.
In other police news, a man from a northeast community who was arrested on suspicion of involvement in a shooting that took place on January 19, 2025, targeting Narrin Murphy’s vehicle in Jimmit has since been released pending further investigation into the matter.
