Dr. Sharmayne Saunders, Head, UWI Global Campus Belize, will deliver the Twelfth Annual National Bank of Dominica Ltd. & UWI Global Campus Dominica National Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, 30 May 2024 commencing at 7:00 p.m. at the For Young Hotel.

Dr. Saunders will explore current realities in this second decade after the global financial crisis, plus the ever-present threats to infrastructure, health, and livelihoods that are presented by climate change. She will examine the pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on an organization’s most prized resource: its human resources.

“AI technologies are being integrated into HR processes to enhance efficiency, improve decision-making, and provide strategic insights,” says Dr. Saunders. “In recent years, AI has emerged as a transformative force, revolutionizing various sectors with its ability to automate tasks, analyse vast amounts of data, and make intelligent decisions.”

Dr. Saunders is a distinguished figure in university higher education administration. With a career spanning 25 years in academia, consultancy, and business, she is celebrated for her remarkable contributions to education and national development in Belize.

The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will provide an opportunity for guests to listen to the speaker present for about 45 minutes.  Following the presentation, guests will be able to interact and to generate meaningful discussions about the influence of the topic on the Caribbean region.
