Prime Minister Skerrit Welcomes China’s New Ambassador to Dominica

Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit has officially welcomed the new People’s Republic of China Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Dominica, His Excellency Chu Maoming.

H.E Chu paid a courtesy call to the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday following the presentation of his credentials to Her Excellency Sylvanie Burton, President of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Prime Minister Skerrit assured the Ambassador of the Government’s full backing as he began his tour of duty in Dominica and expressed gratitude for China’s immeasurable support of national development efforts.

The two sides pledged to maintain close ties, fostered over 20 years of mutual trust, cooperation, and friendship. Dominica and China have enjoyed a solid alliance since establishing diplomatic relations in 2004, collaborating in infrastructure, health, education, and agriculture.  In March, Prime Minister Skerrit led a delegation to the People’s Republic of China to observe 20 years of diplomatic relations.
