A police Sergeant stationed at the Mahaut Police Station was taken to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital for medical attention after he was stabbed by an individual with a history of mental illness.
According to reports reaching Nature Isle News (NIN) the officer was dealing with a report concerning the individual and when approached was stabbed to the back with an “ice pick” by the mentally ill individual.
We are not in a position to say if the injuries sustained are “life threatening” but we will continue to monitor the situation and give updates when available. We wish the officer a speedy recovery.
