Former champions, LA Enterprises Bombers recorded a hard-fought come from behind victory last evening in the only scheduled encounter in the Dominica Football Association’s Premier League.
In their penultimate match of the first round, Bombers scored a last-minute goal as they defeated Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Strikers by five goals to four at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.
Trailing by four goals to two in the second half of play after enjoying a one goal to nil lead early, national player Jamie Parillon found the back of the net twice. Parillon got good support from Usher George, Davone George, and Romario Burgins with one goal each.
Jerren Sebastien with two goals and one each from Dillon Augustine and Francis Luke were the men on target for Soca Strikers.
The win pushed Bombers to 8 points from the same number of matches while Soca Strikers remained on 6 points after collecting their second win of the season last weekend.
When the action continues on Friday evening, Promex Harlem will do battle against Bath Estate from 6 pm at the Almond Park in Dublanc.
In the first of two matches on Saturday, Petro Caribe Pointe Michel will take on Mahaut Soca Strikers from 4 pm at the Almond Park in Dublanc, while at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, it will be the clash of the newcomers when East Central takes on WE United from 4 pm.
On Sunday at the Benjamin Park, in the first match of a doubleheader from 2 pm, the home team will take on Exodus FC. The second matchup of the day will feature two former champions Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC versus defending champions Sagicor South East FC from 4 pm.
These latest set of matches will bring the curtain down on the first round of the league.
Meanwhile, South East leads the points table with 19 points, followed by Dublanc FC, Pointe Michel FC and WE United all on 16 points. Bath Estate is on 10 points, followed by East Central on 9 points. Bombers have a total of 8 points. They are closely followed by Soca Strikers on 6 points. Exodus FC sits at the bottom of the table having yet to secure a single point.
To date, all clubs have played a total of 8 games.
