Thea Lafond-Gadson will represent the Commonwealth of Dominica at the World Athletics Indoor Championships to be held in Glasgow, Scotland. The event is scheduled for 1-3 March 2024. She will compete in the indoor Women’s Triple Jump, an event that showcases the world’s best triple jumpers.
Thea qualified to compete in the event with a massive leap of 14.90m at last year’s World
Athletics Outdoor Championships which was held in Budapest, Hungary. Currently, she is ranked second on the global rankings with a jump of 14.60m.
Mrs.Lafond-Gadson is seeking to become the country’s second World Athletics Championship Medalist and improve on her fourth-place position at the last edition of the World Athletics Indoor Championships held two years ago in Belgrade, Serbia.
Dominica secured its first and only World Athletics Championship medal in 1995, when Jerome Romain Jumped 17.59m to secure bronze in the Men’s Triple Jump event at Göteborg, Sweden.
Thea Lafond-Gadson is set to compete on Sunday the 3rd of March, at 6:18 am ( Local Time) amongst a field of fifteen (15) other competitors.
World Athletics certified/ senior coach Mr. Aaron Gadson will perform coaching and
management duties while at the Championships.
