West Indies Players Association (WIPA) executive re-elected unopposed

Former Windward Islands Volcanoes captain and all-rounder, Liam Sebastien has retained his position on the West Indies Players Association (WIPA) executive that was elected unopposed.

Sebastien, who previously served two, two-year terms, was reelected on Monday evening when the WIPA held its Annual General Meeting via the Zoom platform. He will continue in his position as Honorary Assistant Secretary.

The entire executive, which will be led by former Jamaica and West Indies opening batsman, Wavell Hinds, was re-elected unopposed. Hinds will have Nixon McLean as his deputy. Ridley Jacobs will serve as the Treasurer with Wayne Lewis as the Honorary Secretary.

Sebastien said that he is elated to be reelected for another term since it will give him and the other executive members the opportunity to continue to make proper representation on behalf of regional cricketers.

WIPA is the union representing regional players and is responsible for negotiating with Cricket West Indies on behalf of all the regional players. WIPA also organizes players’ development sessions as well as educating its 450 members on finance and health, just to name a few.

The motion to reelect the entire executive en mass was moved by Jamaican Nehemiah Perry and seconded by Guyanese Leon Johnson.
