PM Skerrit attends CARICOM Heads meeting in Grenada

Roseau, Dominica-Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit departed the state on Sunday, July 28, to attend the Forty-Seventh Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community in St. George’s Grenada.

The meeting, being held from July 28-30, will address key issues such as the CARICOM Single Market and Economy and the implementation of the decision on free movement. Heads of government will also discuss advancing the CARICOM agri-food systems agenda, a strategy for regional digital resilience, developments in regional transportation and climate change, and sustainable development.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Skerrit will engage in discussions with officials from the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in Miami, Florida. SOUTHCOM is responsible for contingency planning, operations, and security cooperation for Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. In the Prime Minister’s absence from the state, Dr. Irving McIntyre, Minister for Finance, Economic Development, Climate Resilience, and Social Security will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
