Over five hundred persons turned out for the Pointe Michel Village Council elections which took place on Monday, September 21, 2020.
Sixteen (16) were nominated for the election.
Observers in the community say they were “happy at the voter turnout” and the participation in the election process.
When the cut-off time of 5 pm came a number of persons were still cued up to vote and the last person who voted was at 6:30 pm.
Newcomer James Delaunay stunned many as he topped the polls in polling station TO3, overall he came second. Topping the polls was Sonia Felix with 233 votes, James Delaunay 229, John Blanchard 214, Erica Lewis-Jules 204, and Matthias Peltier Jr. 193 votes.
The rest is left with the government to select its three (3) nominated members to make up the eight (8) person council where a chairperson will be selected.
Erica Lewis-Jules has been the chairperson of the council for the past six (6) years.
