A frustrating day for England. Conditions were perfect for batting so they would have known wickets wouldn’t come easy.
They took three wickets before lunch but reality hit in the afternoon as Kavem Hodge became the second Dominican to score a test century after the late Irvin Shillingford and Alick Athanaze put on 175 for the Windies’ fourth wicket.
Despite the best efforts of the seamers and Shoaib Bashir, who got his first bowl of the series and took a couple of wickets, England still fought with their hands if they were to earn a first-innings lead.
The end of a really good day for the West Indies after the nightmare at Lord’s.
They’ve responded well, the day highlighted by a maiden century from Kavem Hodge.
Amazing! How did Irvin get to do this Houdini? Irvin scored 175 run partnership with Athanaze?!!!! My word!
The 2nd paragraph needs re-writing. You may insert the word ‘who’ between the words ‘Hodge’ and ‘became’. Alternatively, you could place a full stop after Shillingford, and begin the next sentence with ‘Hodge’. The sentence will then read ‘Hodge and Alick Athanaze etc etc.’
Otherwise, one would have to know what happened today to understand that paragraph.
