A trough system associated with Major Hurricane Larry is expected to result in occasional cloudiness with brief showers across the island during the next 24 hours. As Major Hurricane Larry passes north east of the region, a reduction in wind speed will be maintained.
Light winds, available moisture, and daytime heating could enhance afternoon showers through to Tuesday followed by the approach of a tropical wave by Wednesday.
A slight dust haze is expected to linger across the area during the next few days. People with respiratory sensitivities are advised to take all precautions to avoid complications.
Moderate to rough seas are anticipated during the next 24 hours, with swells produced by Hurricane Larry expected along the eastern coastline. Swells are projected to increase to near 10.0ft today. Life-threatening surf and rip currents are expected. A small craft warning and a high surf advisory are in effect. All are advised to stay out of the water.
Please note that a greater degree of cloudiness, more frequent rainfall, and higher rainfall amounts are normally experienced across the east coast and interior of Dominica.
