Magistrate places man on bond after he pleaded guilty to threats and intimidation

Ned Abraham of 2 Shop Lane Goodwill has been placed on a $1,000.00 bond by Chief Magistrate Candia Carette George for one year in default he will go to prison for 3 months.

Brief Facts on the Matter

On August 24, 2023, the police received a report at about 3:30 a.m. that Abraham was armed with a cutlass and started to uncover a house where Clinton George resided. The house and land are in dispute and are before the court for adjudication.

Abraham had returned to his home in the wee hours and seemed intoxicated and called George telling him, “I know is you alone that there, I will come get you.”

When the police arrived on the scene, he denied anything happened but was met at the house and cautioned but was behaving in an unruly manner. He was arrested and brought to Police Headquarters.

At police headquarters, he was questioned and admitted that he was under the influence of alcohol and did have the cutlass and started to uncover the house.

In court, he pleaded guilty to threats and intimidation with a cutlass.

Plea in mitigation

In his plea in mitigation, he told the court that he did have the cutlass and started to uncover the house. The police came and I stopped, I had sent the cutlass over the fence so they did not meet me with it. The house belongs to George but the land is ours.

Sentencing

He was warned by the court to cease and desist from his actions. “Learn to live in peace and love,” she told him. He was then placed on a bond of $1,000 to keep the peace for one year in default and 3 months in jail for the offense of intimidation. For the charge of threats, she imposed no separate penalties.
