Grand Bay man rearrested outside court moments after he was granted bail for theft

The freedom of Tevin Mark of Grand Bay was short live on September 5, 2022, as he was rearrested by the police as he stepped out of the court after being granted bail for theft. The police claim that he is wanted for questioning on alleged drug trafficking.

According to the charge read in court to Mark, it is the prosecution’s case that between October 1, 2021, and January 23, 2022, at Grand Bay did steal 10 energy solar batteries each valued at EC$824.11, and 4 energy solar panels each valued at EC$833.62 all to the total value of EC$11,575.58 belonging to the Government of Dominica.

The prosecution headed by Inspector Francis Laville did not object to bail and bail was set by Magistrate Michael Laduat at 15,000.00 with retired banker Joan Moise as surety.

As part of his bail conditions, he is to surrender to the jurisdiction of the court on November 20, 2022, or any other time specified by the court and must report to the Grand Bay Police Station once a week (Monday) between 7 am and 7 pm, must not commit any offenses while on bail, must obtain the court’s permission if he is required to travel and must inform the court 72 hours in advance if he requires to change his address.
